Oney, Messersmith fuel Upper Sandusky girls over Columbian

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky’s girls witnessed a pair of firsts Thursday in a 5-0 win against Columbian.

Alivia Oney recorded her first career hat trick and Riley Messersmith had her first career goal to highlight the win.

Oney added an assist for the Rams (2-3) and Messersmith had two more. Lindsay Weininger added the other goal for Upper Sandusky.

Cortni Brown had three saves for the Rams in the first half, with Miranda Dowell not facing a shot in the second half.

Koryn Mock stopped seven shots in the first half for the Tornadoes (1-3) and Zoey Wright had another.

Van Buren shuts out Columbian

Van Buren blanked Columbian’s boys 9-0 Thursday.

Adam Schermer had 10 saves in the loss for the Tornadoes and Evan Schleter added five.
