Doubles play keys Clyde over Oak Harbor

CLYDE — Doubles play proved the difference in Tuesday’s match between Clyde and Oak Harbor.

The Fliers took each match, and nipped the Rockets 3-2.

Clyde moved to 1-1 this season.

In the first doubles match, Clyde’s Mary Wilkerson and Emma Strudthoff downed Oak Harbor’s Vivian Kunkle and Mya Lenke 6-2, 6-1. In the second double’s match, Clyde’s Haki Hagemeyer and Megan Barrett defeated Rockets Bailey LaFountain and Hailey Hess 6-1, 6-2.

Clyde won one singles match; that was when Madi Bannister beat Christine Arent 6-2, 6-1.

The Rockets’ two wins came at first singles, where Chloe Duquette knocked off Lakotah Cagle 6-2, 6-2, and at second singles, where Addi Hasselbach topped the Fliers’ Siera Hisey 2-6, 7-5, 10-3.
