Tigers get shot at share of N10

ATTICA — Ridgedale scored three unearned runs in the top of the seventh for the lead, but Seneca East countered with RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh and eighth to claim a 4-3 win Saturday.

The win improved the 19-3 Tigers to 14-1 in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, giving them a chance to tie Carey for the conference title if they beat Upper Sandusky at home Monday.

Seneca East looked to be in that position early Saturday, leading 2-0 heading into the seventh after scoring twice in the first. But the Rockets (16-11, 6-10) rallied in the seventh.

No. 9 hitter Myles Nutter hit a leadoff single off reliever Bo Smith, then went to second on Austin Price’s single.

Sam Leach hit into a fielder’s choice — Nutter out at third — with Price going to second before Price scored when shortstop Chase Foos misplayed Conner Lust’s grounder.

Smith then struck out Nate Blevins for the second out, but a wild pitch and a walk to Adam Beard loaded the bases.

Seneca East’s Kainon Ruffing then misplayed a fly ball by Mitch Reasoner, allowing Leach and Lust to score for a 3-2 lead.

Smith then got Clayton Lust to pop up for the final out. The Tigers trailed, but not for long.

No. 9 hitter Jake Hall drew a leadoff walk, and back-to-back one-out singles by Smith and Rickie Lacy loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame.

Tyler Turek followed with a game-tying RBI, but two fly outs halted the rally.

The Rockets left a runner stranded at second in the top of the eighth and Seneca East went to work in the bottom of the inning.

Andrew Daniel hit a leadoff single off Blevins and Chase Foos reached first when Blevin misplayed his bunt.

Blevins struck out Hall, but Ruffing drew a walk to load the bases and Smith followed with the game-winning single to right.

Smith (8-1) ended with three singles, added a run and picked up the win for Seneca East. Turek had two singles, Hall and Lacy both singled, and Ruffing scored.

Blevins took the loss for the Rockets.

Price singled twice and Beard doubled for Ridgedale.
