SBC TOURNAMENT: Old Fort is to host the Sandusky Bay Conference Tournament on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. The tournament is to be held in the high school big gym. Lakota’s and Calvert’s seventh grade teams are to start the tournament. The seventh grade boys game is to be Old Fort and Sandusky St. Mary around 10:45 a.m. followed by the OF eighth grade girls against St. Mary (12 p.m.) and the eighth grade boys from OF and Calvert (1:15 p.m.). These times are approximated. The cost is to be $3 and only SBC passes will be accepted. All proceeds go to the SBC. A concession stand is to be available.
BAKE SALE: During the Mohawk boys basketball game Saturday there is to be a bake sale. All proceeds from the sale are to benefit the Mohawk area fire victims. Baked goods can be donated and delivered to the MHS ticket booth Saturday between 4-4:30 p.m.
BOYS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL: Calvert’s eighth grade team route New Riegel Wednesday 37-14. Blake Ronski led the Senecas with 14 points while Garrett Spaun tossed in 12. Joe Tiell scored seven points for the Blue Jackets and Logan Schalk added five.
n Hopewell-Loudon’s seventh grade team squeezed past McComb Wednesday with a 29-26 victory. George Beucler led the Chieftains with 13 points while Hayden Welly and Chase Jorgensen each added seven.
n The eighth grade team for Hopewell-Loudon topped McComb 52-23. Andrew Bour scored nine points followed by Walker Suter and Ryan Cook each with eight.
SUMMER BASEBALL: Sign-up for 2018 Mohawk District Summer League ball players and coaches is 9-11:30 a.m. Feb. 24 and March 3 in the Mohawk High School cafeteria. Players in kindergarten through eighth grade can sign up at these times. All players are to sign up at these times and payment is requested at registration. A late fee of $10 is to be assessed after March 21 and players may not be registered after April 1. If you cannot make either sign-up day, forms will be available in the school office. DONATIONS FOR FAMILIES: Mohawk High will accept donations at the high school and at all remaining home basketball games for two area families who recently suffered house fires.
