Fast start sparks Rams against Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky didn’t waste time Saturday as the Rams led 19-5 after the first stop and added to that for a 71-24 rout of Northern 10 Athletic Conference rival Wynford.

The Rams (10-2, 6-1 N10) were led by Abigail Fogle with 20 points, while Madison McLaughlin added 17 points and seven rebounds. Alexis Fogle had 13 points and five steals and Megan Hensel tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and eight assists.

Olivia Grove led Wynford (2-9, 1-6) with 11 points. The Royals were just 9 of 37 from the floor shooting.

Carey takes down Redmen

BUCYRUS — Sydney Kin led the charger for Carey as nine players scored Saturday in a 61-39 rout of Bucyrus in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.

Kin led everyone with 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Blue Devils (11-1, 6-1 N10), while Bry Curlis added 12 points and both Destiny DeFeo and Sydney Ferguson scored eight points. DeFeo dished out four assists, while Amber Nash tallied five steals and four assists.

Bucyrus (6-4, 3-3) was led by Shaina Orewiler’s 13 points. The Redmen turned the ball over 18 times.

Harris earns pair of

runner-up finishes

OAK HARBOR — Calvert’s Taylor Harris claimed two runner-up spots and helped the Senecas take 10th in a relay to top area efforts Saturday at the Oak Harbor Subway Rocket Invitational.

Harrison swam second in the girls 100 butterfly (1:01.54) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.72) and anchored the 400 freestyle relay to 10th (4:19.56).

Meghan Miller, Erin Wagner and Alana Kennedy rounded out the relay to help Calvert finish 12th in the 16-team field with 32 points.

Columbian ended 14th (22) on the strength of Anna Fletcher capturing sixth in both the 50 freestyle (26.9) and 100 butterfly (1:03.71) and helping the 200 medley relay team finish 11th (2:12.34).

Dannah Smith, Sierra Steinmetz and Sydney Fortney also swam on the relay for the Tornadoes.

In the boys meet, Columbian took 11th (29) and Calvert came in 15th (1).

Toby Ramsdell keyed Columbian by finishing fifth in the 100 butterfly (57.57) and 10th in the 100 backstroke (1:04.09), and helping the 200 medley relay team end up 12th (2:02.53).

Logan Robinson, Trevor McCarthy and Clay Moore and swam on the relay for TC.

Clay Moore added a sixth in 1-meter diving (263.3) and McCarthy added an eighth (257.75).

Calvert’s Christian Staib took 12th in the 100 freestyle (56.41).
