Blue Devils have big 2nd half, smack Liberty-Benton
CAREY — Carey powered off in the second half, Hadyen Stone had a double-double and Cody Luzader thrived behind the 3-point line Tuesday in a 70-46 romp past Liberty-Benton.
The Blue Devils (4-2) led just 26-22 at intermission, but raced past L-B 22-10 in the third period and 22-14 in the fourth.
Stone tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds for Carey, Luzader hit eight 3-pointers for 24 points and added five assists, and Trey Bame chipped in nine points and five assists.
Willard upends BC
WILLARD — Both teams had 15 turnovers, but Willard used a big advantage in scoring off the miscues Tuesday to upend Buckeye Central 59-50.
The Crimson Flashes held a 14-2 advantage in scoring off turnovers.
Terry Baldridge’s 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals keyed Willard. Brevon Polachek had 15 points and six boards, Broc Baldridge tallied 13 points, Myles Pinkston snared six rebounds and Sebastian Sivongsak had three assists.
Darren Wurm paced the Bucks with 18 points and six rebounds, and Max Loy had 15 points and four assist.
PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood rolled past winless Fostoria 69-47 Tuesday in Northern Buckeye Conference play.
Aneas Cousin paced the Redmen (0-5, 0-3 NBC) in the loss with 13 points and Trae Anderson netted 12.
Perkins sweeps up TC
Perkins swept a bowling match Tuesday from Columbian, beating the boys 2,643-2,538 and the girls 2,213-1,762.
Keygan Yonts led TC’s boys with a 400 series (210, 190), Evan Burch had a 359 (191, 168), Tommy Peer rolled a 346 (155, 191), Dylan McCray added a 324 (133, 191) and Davyd McCray had a 314 (126, 188).
Perkins led 1,820-1,743 after the individual portion and took three of the five baker games to secure the victory.
In the girls match, the Pirates led 1,514-1,153 after the individual portion and claimed all of the baker games.
Ainsley Sherman’s 266 series (110, 156) led the Tornadoes in the loss. Emily Fretz chipped in a 255 (109, 146), Nura Himebaugh had a 229 (105, 124), Emily Sikora added a 210 (100, 110) and Ariel Hollins had a 193 (108, 85).
Double winners not enough for Chieftains
RAWSON — Three Hopewell-Loudon wrestlers won twice, but the Chieftains suffered two losses at the inaugural Blanchard Valley Conference Duals.
The Chieftains fell 45-23 to Liberty-Benton and 35-33 to North Baltimore.
Hopewell-Loudon’s double winners were 106-pounder Blake Hoover, 113-pounder Kole Freeman and 182-pounder Levi Kuhn.
All three of their wins against North Baltimore came via forfeits, with Freeman adding a forfeit win against L-B.
Hoover scored a tech fall against L-B’s Luke Broerman, and Kuhn beat L-B’s Nathaniel Dare 7-1.
Other wins against Liberty-Benton came from Caden Carawford pinning Dru Baker (3:56) at 132 pounds, and Devin Arbogast beating Max McFarland 5-2 at 152.
Against North Baltimore, Logan Holcomb beat Jonathan Patterson 9-4 at 126, Caleb Hinton pinned Santos Canales (1:03) at 170 and Aidan Sear claimed a forfeit at 220.
