Parker, Raimondo named All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Heidelberg seniors Sarah Parker and Rachel Raimondo were named American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Americans.
Parker was a third-team pick, making her the program’s first-time three-time All-American, while Raimondo landed on the honorable mention list.
Parker finished her career with 1,769 kills, second-best in program history, on the way to being named the Ohio Athletic Conference player of the year and finishing as an AVCA first-team regional pick. She had an OAC-best 500 kills this year.
“I think being the first three-time All-American here is pretty special to her,” Heidelberg coach Jason Miller said. “It’s a testament to the type of player she was and definitely will leave a very long legacy here at Heidelberg.”
This was Raimondo’s first All-American honor, which came after she picked up the OAC libero of the year award and joined Parker on the AVCA regional first team. She led the OAC with 700 digs this year and ended sixth on the Student Princes’ career list in that category.
“Rachel has worked really hard and had to overcome a lot of adversity this year,” Miller said. “I’m proud of both young women and I’m excited to see what the next steps are for both of them.”
