Clyde shuts out Panthers, improves to 15-1 on season

CLYDE – Clyde dropped just three total sets Tuesday as the Fliers swept Sandusky St. Mary 5-0 in Sandusky Bay Conference action.

In singles play, Iga Makal beat Gabby Holly 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while Melissa Laconis topped Maggie Gyurke by the same score at No. 2 and Maddie St. Marie got past Sara Bias 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.

The first doubles team of Addie Martin and Alayna Barrera topped Miranda Braden and Mary Kromer 6-0, 6-0, while the second Fliers duo of Saylor Meyer and Siera Hisey dropped Faith Lamb and Marina Dix 6-0, 6-2.

The Fliers are 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the SBC.

Chargers zap Senecas

Edison slipped by Calvert Tuesday as the Chargers edged the Senecas 3-2 in a Sandusky Bay Conference tilt.

A Calvert forfeit at third singles proved costly as Laura Haley beat Emma Knowles 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Calvert’s second doubles team of Elayna Kapelka and Maria Goshe topped Madisyn Frederick and Jessica Graves 6-0, 6-2.

However, Edison’s Mariah Medina upended Devyn Warnement 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and the Chargers’ first doubles duo of Gabby Kilbridge and Lilly Hite beat Marie Brodman and Bradlee Warnement 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

The Presidents trump Rams

MARION – Upper Sandusky fell behind early and couldn’t recover Tuesday as Marion Harding edged the Rams 3-2.

In singles play, Harding’s Maggie Pitts defeated Sara Gier 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, while Allison Russell topped Paige Burger 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. The Presidents’ other victory was in second doubles, where Madison Randolph and Michelle Flock beat Jodi and Mara Smalley 6-2, 6-4.

The Rams’ Mady West upended Aundrea Jordan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and Delaney McQuown and Sam Pryor beat Sidney Street and Madelyn Predmore 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

The Rams are 11-2.

Truckers handle Tornadoes

NORWALK – Norwalk dropped just a few sets Tuesday as the Truckers dominated Columbian 5-0 in a Northern Ohio League match.

Kaitlyn Stoll beat Brooke Smith in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Brooke Fries topped Sophie Crist 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and Megan Berry defeated Katie Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

The first doubles team of Macy Miller and Jordan Gran beat Eden Stephey and Brenna Saum 6-1, 3-6, 10-7, and the second team of Anessa Berry and Sela Berry topped Gabbi Roszman and Olivia Kramer 6-2, 6-1.
