Tornadoes edge Ontario

Columbian took both doubles matches and got a singles win from Braden Kuhn to slip past Ontario 3-2 Thursday in Northern Ohio League tennis.

Kuhn dropped Christian Zupan 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2 singles for the Tornadoes (6-3, 3-1 NOL).

Eline Widman and Hunter Stark claimed the No. 1 doubles match from Mike Bischak and Logan Wilson by a 6-3, 6-4 margin, and Zach Gaietto and Adam Young beat Warriors Drew Jackson and Andrew Schulthris 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2.

Columbian’s Nick Gaietto fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to Brandon Wagner, and Ben Klepper lost 7-5, 6-3 to Ty Carcione at No. 3.

USHS dominates Galion

UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky didn’t lose a set Thursday against Galion, sweeping the Tigers, 5-0.

Seth Sprang got things started for the Rams, beating Galion’s Sam Maddox, 6-2, 6-1. The Rams’ Evan Scheck followed with with a 6-3, 6-3 win over J.D. Smith, then Upper Sandusky’s Seth Frey beat Galion’s Caleb Ivy, 6-1, 6-0.

The two Upper Sandusky doubles teams combined to lose just one game, as the team of Daniel Maltsbarger and Aaron Perc defeated Don Van Vliet, 6-0, 6-0, while the team of Drew Barth and Noah Frey topped Alex Barker and Landon Rose, 6-1, 6-1.

Upper Sandusky improved to 2-2.
