Rams upend Falcons
UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth and held Riverdale scoreless over the final four innings Monday to claim a 7-5 North Central Conference win.
Riverdale plated all five of its runs in the third for a 5-2 lead, but the Rams countered with two runs in the bottom of the frame before pulling away.
Winning pitcher Cody Gabriel was one of four Rams who doubled.
Trey Clark doubled and singled, and Andre Myers and Dermot Garza each doubled against the Falcons.
Carson Mittermaier and Sam Plott both singled twice, with Mittermaier and Myers both driving in two runs.
Gabriel pitched the first five innings and struck out 10. Mittermaier pitched the final two innings, faced six batters and struck them all out.
The Bucks stop here
NEW WASHINGTON – Buckeye Central dropped a home game, 4-2, to Colonel Crawford Monday.
Buckeye Central came out strong, putting two runs on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Eagles tied the game with two in the second, but blasted two runs in the fifth, to close out the scoring.
Austin Lutz took the loss for the Bucks, pitching six innings, allowing four hits, four runs and fanning 11.
Tanner Zaebst led Buckeye Central’s efforts, going 2 for 2 on the day, with one run scored.
Jordan Herrnstein scored a run in the Bucks’ loss while Grant Loy had an RBI.
Bucks can’t catch Eagles
NEW WASHINGTON – Colonel Crawford overcame a 4-0 deficit with an eight-run fourth inning Monday to lay the groundwork for a 14-10 North Central Conference win over Buckeye Central.
Buckeye Central (5-3, 3-2 NCC) broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the bottom of the third, but after the Eagles broke free in the fourth, the Bucks never regained the lead.
Morgan Wurm suffered the loss for the Bucks, but went 4 for 5 with two doubles, two runs and six RBIs.
Miranda Wurm went 3 for 3, Sidney Long singled twice and scored twice, Haley Hildebrand drove in two runs and singled and Maddie Fagan and Sierra Hanes both scored twice and singled.
