St. Wendelin advances to sectional final
FINDLAY – Kamryn Troike put up 34 points to help St. Wendelin power past Riverdale, 59-43 and cement the Mohawks’ spot in the sectional final.
Troike was 15 of 20 from the field and led the team with 20 rebounds. Ali Rutter dropped in 10 points and was perfect at the line, going 4 for 4, for the Mohawks.
St. Wendelin had the lead, 28-19 going into the locker room at the half. Despite having 17 turnovers compared to Riverdale’s five. The Mohawks kept a double digit advantage that the North Central Conference champion Falcons could not overcome by the final buzzer.
St. Wendelin will travel back to Findlay Saturday to play Arcadia in a sectional final.
Lakota loses close one to Cardinal Stritch
GENOA- Lakota came up short in their sectional semifinal against Cardinal Stritch, 39-32.
Lakota led at the half, 19-17. But, the Raiders came out of the gate slow in the third. An 11-2 run by Cardinal Stritch was more than enough to catch Lakota, and made all the difference as both teams played even in the fourth.
Katie Park was Lakota’s lead scorer with 12 points, Morgan Gangwer posted eight points and Morgan Mowry put up seven.
BC knocks off Plymouth
ONTARIO- Buckeye Central played consistent through four quarters to turn away Plymouth, 53-47 in a Division IV sectional semifinal game.
Kilee Kimmel and Brooke Karl both scored 15 total points, while Hailey Hildebrand put up nine points to lead the Bucks to victory.
At the end of the first half, the teams were knotted up at 27. A 15-7 run gave the Bucks a lead going into the fourth quarter.
Buckeye Central kept pace against Plymouth to keep the win intact, out rebounding the Big Red 37-26.
Buckeye Central will be back in action Saturday against Colonel Crawford at Ontario in the sectional final.
