Girls Basketball Roundup: Blue Jackets overwhelm Tigers

NEW RIEGEL – Lauren Ladd had a double-double, Taylor Arbogast nearly had one as well and three other teammates scored at least 10 points Thursday in New Riegel’s 74-43 Midland Athletic League win over Seneca East.

Ladd turned in 15 points, 13 rebounds and four assists for the Blue Jackets (15-1, 7-1 MAL) and Arbogast had 14 points and eight boards.

Taylor Kirian netted 14 points, Kara Scherger had 13 points and six steals and Morgan Noftz tallied 10 points and four steals. Hailey Theis snared four steals.

Seina Adachi’s 16 points paced the Tigers (6-9, 1-6). Brittany Brookes scored 10 points and Hannah Hahler had 10 rebounds.

Mohawks flatten NB

NORTH BALTIMORE – St. Wendelin shot nearly 50 percent from the floor Thursday and got a double-double from Kamryn Troike in a 60-44 Midland Athletic League win over North Baltimore.

The Mohawks (9-4, 3-3 MAL) hit on 25 of their 51 shot attempts, with Troike turning in 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Makenzie McAfee’s 19 points topped St. Wendelin, and Allie Rutter added 16 points, four assists and three steals.

The Tigers (6-10, 1-5) got nine points from Rachel Peters, eight points and six rebounds from Kiah Powell, and five steals from Raegan Fleckner.

NBC streaks continue for both

FOSTORIA – The perfect conference records continued.

Elmwood dominated early, owned the boards and ruled at the line Thursday en route to beating Fostoria and improving to 9-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.

Courtney Emmitt scored 13 points and Kristen Curtis added 12 for the Royals (10-4 overall), who led 22-9 at the first stop, went 19 for 22 at the line and out-rebounded FHS 32-18.

Marissa Swavel backed them with nine points and three assists, Tiffany Hillard scored eight points and Samantha Ervin hauled in 10 boards.

Erica Moore’s 11 points and three assists keyed the Redmen (1-11), who fell to 0-9 in the NBC.

Olivia Valenti added nine points and Alexus Smith had six boards and three steals.
