Calvert swimming falls to Kenton, Findlay

FINDLAY – Calvert’s boys and girls swim teams took part in a dual meet Wednesday evening. Unfortunately for them, neither team was able to secure a victory as the boys fell to Kenton 88-12, and Findlay 146-8.

Anthony Traxler highlighted Calvert’s boys with second-place finishes in the 50 free (25.49) and the 100 free (59.00).

Calvert’s girls fell to Kenton, 103-57, and to Findlay, 122-47.

Corrine Harris collected two first place individual finishes in the 100 free (56.73) and the 200 free (2:02.65). Katie Tiell snagged a first-place finish in the 50 free (27.69) and a second-place finish in the 100 fly (1:08.46).

The team of Emma Brodman, Amanda Traxler, Tiell and Harris finished second in the 200 free relay (1:56.84).

Polar Bears freeze out ‘Berg

ADA – Heidelberg’s women were looking to secure another Ohio Athletic Conference victory, but Ohio Northern had different plans as the Polar Bears kept Heidelberg on ice with a 81-66 win.

Carly Thomas led Ohio Northern with 22 points, followed up by Cenzie Yoder’s 14. Jordan Kimes led the Polar Bears (11-3, 4-3) in rebounds with 10 and Brooke Espenschied had the team high six assists on her way to 10 points.

Heidelberg’s leading scorers were Kathleen Phillips and teammate Carli Patrick, who each had a team-high 11 points. Phillips, the top scorer this season for Heidelberg (10-4, 3-4) was in foul trouble and chilled by the Polar Bears. She sank only 3 of 12 field goals but tried to keep her team in the game by nailing 5 of 6 free throws.

Molly Schriber was good for 4 of 5 field goals while Patrick led the team in rebounding, grabbing 10.
