Columbian goes 1-1 in NOL dual preview
NORWALK- Columbian made its way to Norwalk for a preview of what’s in store at the NOL duals in a tri-meet that included Shelby. Columbian beat Shelby 49-24, but was edged out by Norwalk 45-28.
The Tornadoes forfeited two weight classes at 195 and 126, but had 2-0 records by Lalo Ludwick, Roman Williams and Tyler Lang.
Ludwick grabbed two tech-fall decisions at 106 pounds, defeating Shelby’s Hunter Friebel 17-0 and Norwalk’s Brandon Boettcher 15-0.
Lang had a pinfall victory at 120 over Shelby’s Gary Hardin. He then pulled off a major decision over Norwalk’s Arafat Silmi, 12-1.
At 152 pounds, Williams grabbed a pinfall sticking Shelby’s Dan Marion. Against Norwalk, Williams had a tech-fall 15-0 over Craig Johnson.
“Moving forward with our conference, it gives us confidence.” said Columbian coach Chad Long. “Sandusky is who we need to beat and Norwalk was right up there last year. We gave up a lot of pins, but that is the youth of our lineup. Fundamentally we’re getting there, but it is going to take mat time, lots and lots of mat time.”
