No. 4 New Riegel improves to 20-0 by taking down No. 10 Red Devils

ARLINGTON – In compiling a 19-0 record, New Riegel has had a few tough tests, but none maybe greater than Saturday when the Blue Jackets traveled to face state-ranked Arlington.

No. 10 Arlington gave No. 4 New Riegel one of its toughest challenges, but in the end, all the Red Devils could do was become victim No. 20.

After four games, New Riegel drove back home with its perfect record intact with a 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24 victory.

While helping her team get its 20th win, Kara Scherger put the same number up in multiple stat columns, slamming 20 kills and picking up 20 digs. Lauren Ladd had a triple-double, recording 16 kills, 14 assists and 11 digs. Taylor Arbogast chipped in 13 kills and 10 digs.

Morgan Noftz tossed up 33 assists, Brittany Gillig had 17 digs, Natalie Reinhart had seven digs and Alexis Kieffer had a pair of blocks.

Mohawk puts the

Polar Bears in deep freeze

CASTALIA – Game two at Margaretta got away from Mohawk, but the rest of the afternoon belonged to the Warriors. The hitting of the Adelspergers was too hot for the Polar Bears to handle and Mohawk left town with a 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, 25-13 win.

Julie Adelsperger led Mohawk (17-3) with 21 kills, Kasey Adelsperger was right behind her with 20. Clara Adelsperger handed out 49 assists.

Mohawk had six players record double-digit digs, led by Taylor McClain’s 38. Julie Adelsperger added 24. Also defensively, Clara Adelsperger had 19 digs, MacKenzie Sowers 16, Ali Konkle 12 and Aubrie Flood 10.

Rams sweep tri

UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky began its day strongly with a 25-14, 25-21 victory over rival Carey and ended its day even stronger by beating Willard 25-14, 25-19. Sandwiched in between was a 25-22, 25-22 victory over Willard.

Taylor Graboski led the Rams (18-2) with 15 kills. Jessi Holly had 14 and Molly Owens chipped in 12. Owens also added seven blocks to her day. Emma Smith dished out 42 assists and Jenna Holly had 23 digs.

Carey got 13 kills from Shelby Kin and eight from Shelby Seifert. Sydney Wentling had 31 assists and Makenzie Wentling led the defense with 17 digs.

With the split, Carey sits 12-7 on the season.

Hornets sting Mohawks

RAWSON – Cory-Rawson was an unkind host Saturday to St. Wendelin. The Hornets topped the Mohawks 25-18, 26-24, 25-17.

St. Wendelin (9-10) was led by Kamryn Troike with seven kills. Becca Starn added five while also coming up with seven blocks.

Allie Rutter was tops defensively with 18 digs, Sophia Volpe had 11 and Hailee Burns had 10.
