Columbian struggles in loss to Shelby

Columbian’s Sarah Guzowski took a set in her first singles match against Shelby’s Ashley Stahl, but it was the only victorious set for the Tornadoes, as the Whippets swept TC, 5-0. Guzowski dropped her match to Stahl 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.

At No. 2 singles, Katie Boor beat Kayla Magrum 6-2, 6-0 and Katie Bowman was victorious at No. 3 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, the Shelby No. 1 team of Allison Naugle and Chloe Yetzer beat Sam Krintzline and Ashley Niedermier, 6-2, 6-1. Macie Dechert and Claire Yetzer beat Olivia Smith and Julianne Peacock, 6-1, 6-1.

Columbian falls to 4-4, 2-1 Northern Ohio League.

Streaks sweep Redmen

FREMONT – Fremont St. Joe didn’t lose a game in the two doubles matches, and went on to sweep Fostoria 5-0.

The team Ashley Burns and Dani Baez beat Sabra Tate and Jessica Kauffman while Lillian Cool and Kelsey Nevius beat Ellen Guan and Destinie Farris, each by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

In singles action, Tricia Reinhart beat Erica Moore 6-2, 6-0, Madison Collins beat Autumn Affholder 6-0, 6-3 and Laura Baez beat Jillian Smith 6-0, 6-0.
