Prep Tennis: Doubles sweep not enough

Sandusky St. Mary swept the singles matches Tuesday to clip Calvert 3-2.

Noelle DeRiso gave the Panthers a 6-4, 6-2 No. 1 win over Madison Daniel, Colette DeRiso beat Laura Haley 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and Dai Parrish outlasted Regina Hoepf 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 3.

Calvert’s CeCi Burtis and Samantha Gase upended Emma McCabe and Lexi McCabe 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Senecas Margaret Bowers and Stasia Huth Fretz blanked Kayla Yontz and Sarah Shivak 6-0, 6-0 at No .2 doubles.

TC tumbles in opener

FREMONT – Columbian opened the year Tuesday with a 5-0 loss to Fremont Ross.

Lauren Emrich gave the Little Giants a 6-4, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Sarah Guzowski, Taylor Paeth beat Kayla Magrum 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 and Kelly Bondra dropped Tiffany Walker 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.

Ross got a 7-5, 6-2 No. 1 doubles win from Emily Hamilton and Bailey Druckenmiller over Ashley Niedermier and Julianne Peacock.

Aubrey Fox and Emmie Moyer defeated Tornadoes Samantha Krintzline and AnnMarie Petrosino 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
