Quast sets more marks as TU lacrosse moves on to GLIAC?finals

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Alexandria Quast set and re-set national records, and Tiffin University avenged a loss to Lake Erie from earlier in the season.

And on Friday, the stakes were higher.

Quast had nine goals and 10 points, leading Tiffin to a 13-11 win over the Storm, which catapulted it into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament finals Sunday vs. No. 1 seed Grand Valley State.

The Dragons trailed, 7-6, at halftime.

“I think going into halftime, girls were just making stupid mistakes,” Tiffin coach Erica Brown said. “We were beating ourselves up.”

But Tiffin bounced back, outscoring the Storm 7-4 after the break, and advancing.

With her nine goals, Quast now has 99 goals this season, a Division II record. She also re-set the all-time points mark for Division II. She has 402 in her career.

Emily Roussel had Tiffin’s four other goals in the game. Jessica Bombard made 12 saves in goal for TU.

(Lake Erie) threw everything at us that they could, and everybody just answered back to it,” Brown said of her team.
