Prep Softball Roundup: Rams roll in to district final

CLYDE – For only the second time in school history, and for the first time since 2002, Upper Sandusky will play for a district title. The Rams advanced to Saturday’s Division III district final at Clyde by beating Margaretta in Tuesday’s semifinal, 3-0.

Kayla Cusac scattered six hits over seven innings for the shut out victory.

“We played great defense behind good pitching by Kyla Cusac tonight,” Ram coach David Young said. “Kyla threw very well tonight, hitting her spots and throwing some off-speed pitches to keep the [Polar] Bears wondering what would come next.”

The game was scoreless threw three innings before Upper Sandusky scored twice in the fourth and once more in the fifth.

Maranda Stansberry had two hits including a triple for the Ramps. Brigitte Snow and Justeen Searfoss added doubles.

“We hit the ball well at times but their pitcher had us guessing for awhile at the beginning,” Young said. “Then we strung a few hits together, scored and didn’t look back. I can’t say enough about this team. We ware really working together as a whole unit.”

The Rams will play the winner of tonight’s game between Bucyrus and Milan Edison.
