Dragons blaze Urbana

URBANA – Alexandria Quast continued her assault on the NCAA record books Friday night, scoring five goals and assisting on nine others as Tiffin University bested Urbana, 17-10.

The scoring effort moved Quast into sixth in NCAA career points with 356. She is now 35 points away from setting the career scoring record, held currently by Stephanie Kienle of West Chester, who graduated in 2008. She’s also only three goals shy of moving into fifth in career goal scoring.

She set a school record against Urbana with six caused turnovers putting her in charge of 18 individual school records.

Katelyn Hill also tallied five goals with Emily Roussel and Alexis MacMillan eaching notching three goals and an assist apiece. Katie Weinheimer added a goal and Megan Belch also had four caused turnovers.

A 40-25 shot margin was held by Tiffin with Jessica Bombard making 11 saves in goal.

TU dropped in GLIAC opener

MIDLAND, Mich. – Tiffin University (18-9) fell in the first round of the GLIAC men’s tennis tournament, losing 5-0 to Ferris State.

The Dragons, the sixth seeded, lost a pair of close doubles matches. Luiz Carvalho and Robbie Ball fell 8-5 while Maximillien Waeters and Leonid Vladimirov lost 8-6. In the other doubles match, Kyle Johnson and Nicholas Almeida were defeated, 8-2.

In singles, Carvalho lost 6-1, 6-1 and Brian Coffman dropped the other match, 6-3, 6-3.

Tiffin will play Michigan Tech today.
