School records top TC efforts in league meet
SANDUSKY – Sarah Hudacek had a hand in setting two school records and helped Columbian tie another – garnering seconds in all three races – Saturday as the Tornadoes took second at the Northern Ohio League Championship meet.
Hudacek swam 2:19.58 for a school record in the 200 IM, and helped the 200 free relay team set a TC record time of 1:47.47.
She and the rest of the 200 medley relay team tied the school mark of 2:01.18.
Lindsay Young, Natalie Howard and Rachel Hudacek joined her on both relays, with all gaining second-team league honors. First-team honors went to those winning a race, second-team to those taking second and third-team to those ending third.
Howard (1:07.24) and Young (1:11.01) went 1-2 in the 100 back for TC.
Other seconds for TC came from Rachel Hudacek in the 50 free (25.14) and 100 free (56.5), Howard in the 100 fly (1:04.41) and Sarah Hudacek in the 500 free (5:47.33).
Sandusky beat the Tornadoes 114-71 for the girls title, followed by Norwalk (53), Shelby (37) and Willard (13).
Columbian’s boys ended third in their meet with 59 points. Sandusky beat Norwalk 109-69. Shelby took fourth (51) and Willard was fifth (2).
Chris Gates defended his title in the 200 free (1:54.48) for TC and added a second in the 100 back (58.18), while also helping the 200 free relay finish second (1:37.09) and the 200 medley relay take third (1:50.15).
Isaac Lewis, Justin Schwartz and Braden Kuhn filled out the 200 free relay. Kuhn, Nate Ramsdell and Lewis joined him on the 200 medley relay.
Thirds came from Ramsdell in the 200 IM (2:19.6), Kuhn in the 100 free (54.03) and Adam Young in the 500 free (5:43.57).
