Help wanted for dinner fundraiser
You might or might not know that I agreed some months ago to help Lisa Swickard with a German dinner fundraiser to help defray the cost of her book, “Decommissioned: Final Days of the 1884 Courthouse.”
The dinner will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday with a live auction starting at 6 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 300 Melmore St.
We have been organizing and making plans for this fantastic dinner for quite some time. While we have not openly advertised the event, as I think Christmas has to be over first, the word on the street is that we will have many visitors attending the dinner and auction.
So far, Lisa and I are doing it all by ourselves. I have a few people who are already baking cakes, etc., but I need more help.
If you or anyone you know will be available, we need help Friday starting at 9 a.m. for preparation and cooking. We also need people Saturday starting at 9 a.m. to decorate and finish the food preparation. We also will need people to help serve the food.
I know many of you have worked with me at several events it was always successful and lots of fun.
The Seneca County Park people are pros and everyone else I have worked with are fantastic, so this is nothing new to anyone.
We are desperately looking for anyone to come forward and lend us a hand. We also need leads on corporate sponsors who might be willing to help donate toward the expense of the meal.
While I know some of you might have agreed with the demolition of the courthouse, it is now in the past and we are all looking to the future. With this book, Lisa and John Huss, with the help of Allan Detrich, have created a piece of history which should be in every household and on the bookshelves of every library not only in Tiffin, Seneca County, but in Columbus, D.C. and the rest of the nation as well.
I need your help with the dinner. Please let us know if you can help. I know we as a community can come together and achieve great things.
Thank you so very much for your consideration. Your payment will be a plate of good German food!
