Judicial ethics

There are four local judges seated in Tiffin. The Ohio Supreme Court instructs them on matters of conduct and behavior by requiring compliance with what are known as judicial canons. Because these judges work for all of us, I think the public should know some of the more salient requisites gleaned from the canons, in spirit and letter.

A judge should not show bias for nor favortism toward police.

A judge should dispose of all judicial matters fairly. If he is not predisposed to do so, he should recuse himself.

A judge should not use the power of his office to retaliate against his critics.

A judge shall dispose of all judicial matters promptly.

A judge shall be dignified and courteous in his courtroom.
