February is Love Your Library Month
Last night, NPR announced February is Love Your Library Month. So, please, support your local library. It is much more than just a book depository! The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board receives information from the Centering Corp. on printed resources that help people deal with grief. I especially like that in its e-mail, it states, “We want to be big strong arms that reach out to encircle others in grief.” The board has purchased some of its books for survivors of suicide, which have been a great resource for those loved ones left behind wondering. Let’s make February a month to explore this resource!
“Remembering You” by Mick Blackistone: This is a book of essays of love and loss. This book explores the importance that recollections play in coming to peace with loss, while ensuring that memories continue to be a positive influence on survivors.
“Safe Passage” by Molly Fumia: This is a book with words to help the grieving. This book guides the reader through the grief process from the blackest night to the slow, gentle dawn of acceptance, unexpected wisdom and new possibilities.
“Going Home” by John Katz: This is a book for finding peace when pets die. By honoring the pets that graced our lives, we reveal their timeless gifts of unwavering companionship and undying love.
The Centering Corp. was founded in 1977 by Joy and Dr. Marvin Johnson. They started with nine little coloring books for hospitalized children and two workshop offerings for nurses and families.
