Ensure your vote is cast

For many Ohioans, the Nov. 6 election will be more important in many ways than if Buckeye State voters were helping to elect a president. On local candidates and issues as well as those affecting the entire state, critical decisions need to be made at the polls.

It is not difficult these days to use the ballot to safeguard your interests. In addition to doing so in person on Election Day, one can take advantage of the absentee voting system in Ohio. It permits registered voters to go to their county boards of election and cast ballots in advance of Nov. 6.

Or, if you prefer, you can request an absentee ballot be mailed to you. That can

be done online at www.sos.state.oh.us. It can be marked, then dropped off at your elections board office as late as 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6.

Absentee voting began this week in Ohio. We encourage voters to take advantage of the system to ensure their voices are heard.
