HAND offering support
A tip of the cap goes to Marquita Smith, Amanda Fries, Sasha Fries, Micki Criswell and Lacie Criswell, who have founded a nonprofit organization to help victims of neuromuscular disorders.
Their group, Help and Assistance for Neuromuscular Disorders – appropriately, HAND for short – aims to assist those who suffer from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, Parkinson’s disease and spinal muscular atrophy.
The woman have planned activities to raise funds for their mission. The next one is set for 5-9 p.m. today at Clouse’s Bar, 5921 W. Tiffin St., Bascom. Food, raffles and silent and live auctions are planned.
Auction items include a signed game jersey from former New Orleans Saints football player Steven Gleason, who has ALS; an autographed football from Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers; a box of flavored coffees from Dutch Brothers; a stone from Garden Smiles; framed, uncut Ohio State players cards; and Vera Bradley and Coach bags.
