Jean A. Cleveland

Jean A. Cleveland, 85, of Green Springs, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Bellevue, to Elmer and Florence (Craig) Zepernick. Jean married Clifton Cleveland June 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death Sept. 13, 2011.

Jean was a 1949 graduate of Green Springs High School. She worked for Fremont Kroger for 15 years as head deli clerk. She was a member of Old Fort Church, VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post No. 6067, Clyde Eagles and Finger Pickers Quilt Guild. Jean also was a 4-H leader for 10 years in Sandusky County. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and painting.

Jean is survived by her seven children, Stephen Cleveland of Circle Pines, Minnesota, Lynn (Kay) Cleveland of Harrison, Patrick (Kathy) Cleveland and Terry Cleveland, both of Green Springs, Jeffrey (Jackie) Cleveland of Tiffin, Sarah (Chris) Humbert of Green Springs and Shawn (Wendy) Cleveland of Upper Arlington; three siblings, Kenneth (Van) Zepernick of Green Springs, Ruth Ann (Jim) Audritsh of Woodburn, Oregon, and Elizabeth (Ted Overmyer) Butzin of Helena; a brother-in-law, Dave Christoff of Woodburn, Oregon; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas (Becky) Cleveland; and sister, Jane Christoff.

Memorial visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St., Green Springs, OH 44836.

Her memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the funeral home, with Norman Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Green Springs Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in honor of Jean.
