Duane R. Hoffman

Duane R. Hoffman, 78, of Bascom, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Seneca County, to the late Arthur and Julia (Myers) Hoffman. He married Paula L. (Fouts) Hoffman July 8, 1961, at Union United Church of Christ, Bascom, and she preceded him in death June 13, 2004. Surviving are three children, Robert D. Hoffman of Columbus, Barbara D. (Chris Royster) Hoffman of Bascom and Julia M. Hoffman of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Brandi Borer and Lawrence Hoffman; and one brother, Dean Hoffman of Atlanta, Georgia. Duane was a Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate and had worked on his parents' farm in earlier years, then at Copeland Refrigeration and Miller Tile. He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Bascom, and formerly played on the church dart ball league. He also enjoyed playing Wii bowling, sipping on a good cup of coffee and mowing the lawn; however, bringing him the most joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, puppies and grandpuppies. A memorial gathering will take place 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, in the chapel at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or Humane Society of Seneca County. Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, has been entrusted with arrangements.
