George Frederick ‘Fred’ Heckman
George Frederick “Fred” Heckman, 56, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, in his home with family by his side.
He was born Sept. 11, 1960, in Tiffin, to George M. and Cleora J. (Buton) Heckman. He married Heidi McCreary July 8, 1990, in Michigan, and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Nicole (Tracy) Witt; four grandchildren, Logan, Keegan, Gavin and Braxtin Witt; a brother-in-law, Shaun Barnes; two nieces, Dawn (Carl) Williams and Lavonna (Chris) Schank; five great-nieces, Heather (Eric) Baker, Crystal Hardy, Cynthia Williams and Kinsley and Ashlyn Schank; a great-nephew, Kyle Williams; a great-great-nephew, Camdyn Baker; four great-great nieces, Rozalyn and Kaliyah Payton and McKenna and Caylee Davis; a stepson, Leonard Archer; and a stepdaughter, Francis Dwyer.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Gordon and Clara Buton; and a sister, Linda D. Barnes.
Fred was a 1978 Fremont Ross High School graduate. He was a roofer for many years and most recently traveled for Precision Store Works, setting up Home Depot displays. He enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, playing pool, darts and spending time with all his “great” nieces, family and friends.
