Gerald E. 'Jerry' Hoerig

Gerald E. "Jerry" Hoerig, 77, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 2017, at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Tiffin, to Eugene G. and Bernetta B. (Kear) Hoerig. He married Pauline E. Stinchcomb Nov. 26, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Fostoria. Also surviving are three children, Terri Ann (Scott) Weininger of McCutchenville, Kimberly Sue (Patrick) Auffenorde of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Gregory S. (Andrea) Hoerig of Bloomville; seven grandchildren, Brandi Carper, Breanna Stine, Brooke Weininger, Derek and Kayla Auffenorde and Jack and Luke Hoerig; three great-grandchildren, Grace and Aubrey Carper and Brantley Stine; two brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Hoerig of Tiffin and Joe (Pam) Hoerig of Georgia; and a sister, Ginny (Larry) Ohler of Tiffin. Jerry retired as a set-up man from Autolite, Fostoria, in 2004, after 31 years of service. In earlier years, he worked for A&P Grocery in Tiffin and Fostoria. He was a 1957 graduate of Calvert High School, Tiffin, and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Jerry liked to golf and spend time with his yellow Labrador retriever. He loved the outdoors, especially working in his yard. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. His Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio.
