Harley Chumley, 84, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Ohio Veteran’s Home, Sandusky.
He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Claiborne County, Tennessee, to Van Weans and Dellar (Bussell) Chumley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He married Martha (Billingsley) Feb. 3, 1952, in Claiborne County, Tennessee.
He is survived by one son, David (Bernida) Chumley; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Haynes and Clyde Chumley; and a sister, Hassie Lay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry and Brian Chumley; eight brothers, Lewis, Otis, Woodrow, Estel, Henley, Fred, John and George Chumley; and two sisters, Minnie Powell and Agnes Gordon.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
His funeral, officiated by the Rev. John McIntyre, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Providence Baptist Church, 1000 W. Gardner Road, Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio, 2500 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615; Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line,
Sandusky, OH 44870; or the donor’s favorite charity.
