Joseph W. Brickner

Joseph W. Brickner, 87, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2013, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Tiffin to Joseph L. and Rose A. (Scherger) Brickner. He married Joanne Mueller on June 21, 1958, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne; daughter, Kathryn (Chris) Baker of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada; two sons, Dr. Richard (Lee Ann) Brickner of Lake Forest, Ill., and Dr. Thomas E. (Beth) Brickner of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two brothers, Albert (Deloris) Brickner of Tampa, Fla., and John (Louisa) Brickner of Tiffin; three sisters, Mary Hassenian of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Sr. Mary Quintin, SND of Toledo, and Theresa (Paul) Streacker of Findlay; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Louis, Mark and Jerome Brickner; and a sister, Catherine LaFountaine.

Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1944 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School. He farmed in the Bascom area at an early age, drove truck for Floom Fleck for 20 years, then retiring in 2005 from Tiffin Paper Co. where he drove truck for 35 years. He was a member of K of C and VFW Post 2858. Joe enjoyed playing cards especially euchre, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Donations may be made to the Missionary Servants of the most Holy Trinity and/or in care of Fr. Eugene Mueller Foundation.
