Mildred Amelia ‘Millie’ Mesnard
Mildred Amelia “Millie” Mesnard, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 27, 2013, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Fremont, to Amos and Margaret (Moran) Gnepper. She married Robert Ellis Mesnard May 25, 1946, in Clyde, and he preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1982.
Survivors include her son, Richard Wayne Mesnard of Broadview Heights; two daughters, Jane Ellen Mesnard of Broadview Heights and Joyce Elaine (Jeffrey) Work of Tiffin; three brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Gnepper of Fremont, Gerald (Kaye) Gnepper of Clyde and James Gnepper of the Philippines; three sisters, Kathleen Giffen and Roberta Kellogg, both of Clyde, and Esther Hartley of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Michelle Yarger and Matthew and Michael Work; two great-grandchildren; three expected great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, William Robert Mesnard; brother, Robert Gnepper; and sister, Nina Fleming.
Millie graduated in 1942 from Clyde High School and then worked at Wright Field Air Force Base during World War II. She attended Tiffin Business College, worked as a secretary for many years, was the treasurer of Y-Wives, was a member of the American Red Cross Seneca County Chapter and TOPS. Millie enjoyed reading, needlework, gardening, playing cards and card clubs and loved her cats. She was a fan of The Ohio State University, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Millie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Pam Easterday officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
Friends may visit the family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
