Jacob H. Brose
Jacob Herman “Jake” Brose, 81, of Fostoria, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in New Riegel, to William H. and Louise (Reinhart) Brose. He married Janice Ann Duding Oct. 15, 1955, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she died May 3, 1988. He then married Vera M. Jones in 1989 and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are seven children, Michael (Kathy) Brose of Risingsun, Mark (Jill) Brose and Matt Brose, both of Fostoria, Joseph (Dawn) Brose of Lampe, Mo., Jeffrey Brose of Findlay and John (Angie) Brose and Paul (Emily) Brose, both of Fostoria; three stepchildren, Vera Margaret Dyer of Logan, Roger Dyer of Glouster and Debra Ritter of Carey; 11 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul (Nancy) Brose of McCutchenville, Bernard Brose of Fostoria, Francis (Donna) Brose of Tiffin and Andrew (Betsy) Brose of Sycamore; six sisters, Anna Waltermeyer and Lucille (Fred) Smith, both of Fostoria, Jeanette (George) Lucius of Bucyrus, Alice (Eugene) Lucius of New Riegel, Rosie (James) Mayer of Tiffin and Inez (Willard) Kerlin of Clyde.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara; stepson, Mack Dyer; and three brothers, Herman “Pete,” Virgil and William Brose Jr.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, and noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
His Mass of Christian burial is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria, where the New Riegel American Legion will provide military honors.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or a charity of the family’s choice.
