Lakota superintendent receives contract extension
KANSAS — Lakota Local Schools will have its current superintendent and treasurer under contract for at least the next four school years.
Superintendent Dr. Chad Coffman and Norman Elchert were approved for contract extensions at the board of education’s monthly meeting Monday night.
Coffman’s new contract is effective August 1st, 2020 through July 31st, 2025.
“I’m really happy here. I’ve enjoyed my first two years, and I’m looking forward to the next several years,” Coffman said.
Coffman began his tenure at Lakota Local Schools in the Fall 2017. He previously served in an administrative role at Parma City Schools.
Elchert’s contract is effective beginning August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2023.
The high school is also featuring a new secretary this school year. Laura Biddle introduced herself to the board Monday. Biddle served as a substitute teacher for several years, mostly in the Lakota school district.
“Lakota is a great school. My kids go here. Everyone on the staff is wonderful, and I’m excited about it,” Biddle said.
In other business, the following individuals were approved to positions for the 2019-2020 school year: Ray Armstrong, Megan Marik, and Amanda Williams as substitutes; Maricar Stahl as cook; Eric DeVanna as maintenance worker; Judy Wiggins as bus operator.
The following individuals were approved for supplemental athletic positions for the 2019-2020 school year: Trevor Strickland and Chad Biddle as HS football assistants; Gabrielle Gregg for junior high volleyball; Amy Conrad for HS cheerleading.
The next board meeting is to be 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at Lakota High School in the staff dining room.
