Woman, boy allege medical malpractice

A Tiffin woman is suing Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital LLC and Dr. Abner Cordero, alleging medical malpractice.

The case was filed against the hospital and doctor on behalf of Joanna Halcomb of Tiffin and her son.

The lawsuit alleges care and treatment were provided to Halcomb and her son April 17, 2013, and the defendants negligently failed to provide them with competent, safe and acceptable medical care and treatment.

As a result of their negligence, the boy “was caused to suffer severe and permanent injury, both physical and mental, pain and suffering, and has incurred and will continue to incur expenses in respect to hospitalization and medical treatment in addition to a permanent impairment of earning capacity all to his economic detriment,” the lawsuit states.

It seeks more than $25,000.

Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley is to preside over the case.
