Man charged, two injured in North SR 18 accident

REPUBLIC — A Republic man was charged after an accident on North SR 18 Saturday night. Sgt. Kent Jeffries of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Allen K. Goodman, 44, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, aggravated vehicular assault and driving left of center. Goodman was traveling southwest on North SR 18 in a 2007 Ford Escape with Michele Compton, 46, he said. Jeffries said Sydney L. Wybensinger, 21, of Tiffin, was traveling northeast on North SR 18 in a 2015 Dodge Avenger with Corey J. Rush, 23, of Bellevue. He said Goodman's Ford went left of center and struck the Dodge head-on, and both vehicles went off the south side of the road. Wybensinger and Rush were transported by Republic EMS to The Bellevue Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Jeffries said. He said Goodman was transported to Seneca County Jail Saturday night. Jeffries said everybody involved was wearing seatbelts. The accident was reported at 9:28 p.m. and Republic EMS, Scipio- Republic Fire Department, the Echo unit, State Highway Patrol, John's Welding & Towing and D&D Total Repair responded to the scene.
