Body found Sunday in Sandusky River
A man’s body was found in the Sandusky River Sunday evening.
Detective Lt. Mark Marquis of Tiffin Police Department said the department had received a report of a missing person Sunday. Family members reported they hadn’t seen the man in a while and 406 Water St. was the last known location where he would have been, he said.
While checking the exterior of a residence, officers found the body of a man in the water, Marquis said.
He said the man was deceased and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division removed the body. The man’s body was taken by Seneca County Coroner’s Office to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital’s morgue and likely would be taken to Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, he said.
Marquis said he was “fairly confident” the body was that of the person officers had been looking for, but it was not confirmed Sunday. The man’s identity was not released Sunday, and it was pending positive identification at Lucas County Coroner’s Office, he said.
It was not known how the man died Sunday night, Marquis said.
The incident was under investigation Sunday night.
