A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle on South Sandusky Street Wednesday evening.

According to Tiffin Police Department, Candi Ludwig, 41, of Tiffin, was driving a Ford Explorer. The SUV struck the pedestrian in the northbound lane about 6 p.m.

The pedestrian, who had not been identified as of Wednesday night, was taken to Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division and was being transferred to a Toledo hospital, according to the police department.

Sgt. LaVerne Keefe of Tiffin Police Department said she had life-threatening injuries. Ludwig was not hurt, he said.

It was likely the pedestrian was carrying groceries, Keefe said.
