Man charged after accident Friday

REPUBLIC — A man was charged after an accident on North CR 43 Friday evening. Scott Siegenthaler, 40, of Republic, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to control. A person reported seeing a Chevrolet Tahoe roll once, go into a field and then leave the scene, according to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office report. Deputy Keegan Walter of Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said a witness provided a license plate and he went to Siegenthaler’s residence to see if he was alright. He said he asked Siegenthaler if he was alright and he began to walk away and become upset. Walter said he then asked if he had consumbed any alcohol and Siegenthaler agreed to wait by his patrol car to get checked out by EMS. On his way to the patrol car, Siegenthaler grabbed something out of the back of his vehicle and would not show the item after being asked numerous times. Siegenthaler then allegedly became angry and combative and he threatened to cause Walter physical harm, he said. Siegenthaler continued backing into his garage and as he went to shut the door, a Taser was deployed, but did not connect, Walter said. He said Siegenthaler was ordered to come out, but when he did, he did not have what was in his hand before. Siegenthaler then complied with law enforcement, was checked out by EMS and was transported to Seneca County Jail, Walter said. He said the incident was under investigation Saturday and additional charges were pending the outcome of the investigation. The incident was reported at 5:32 p.m. and North Central EMS, Green Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Department and Seneca County Sheriff’s Office
