Woman injured in three-vehicle crash

A woman was injured in a three-vehicle accident on US 224, on the bridge near SR 53, Thursday afternoon.

Trooper Jake Mellinger of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Michelle Platt, 44, of Tiffin, was in a 2015 GMC Acadia stopped, facing west on US 224 waiting on traffic, and Leslie Scherer, 66, of Tiffin, was in a 2005 Jaguar stopped west on US 224 behind the Acadia. Bernard Kuhn, 57, of Bascom, traveling west on US 224 in a 1998 Dodge Ram, struck the Jaguar, which was pushed into the Acadia, Mellinger said.

Mellinger said Scherer was transported by Bascom EMS to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Kuhn was cited with assured clear distance ahead, Mellinger said.

Everyone involved was using their seatbelts, Mellinger said.

The accident was reported at 4:49 p.m. and Bascom EMS, Bascom Joint Fire District, Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, the Echo unit, State Highway Patrol, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and John’s Welding and Towing responded to the scene.
