Bellevue men face charges after July altercation
Two Bellevue men were indicted by a Seneca County grand jury in connection to an altercation reported in Flat Rock in July.
Gary J. Mayer, 54, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and Adam D. Mayer, 29, was charged with complicity to felonious assault, a second-degree felony, according to court records.
Gary Mayer allegedly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to Lee Springer with a motor vehicle, and Adam Mayer allegedly aided or abetted Gary Mayer in committing felonious assault, according to their indictments.
Seneca County Sheriff’s Office had received a report about an altercation on East CR 34. Lee Springer reported he was riding his bicycle on CR 29, and a truck came up behind him.
Springer reported the truck’s occupants yelled racial slurs at him and told him to go back to Mexico, according to a search warrant filed in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.
He said the vehicle turned sharply, cut him off and forced him into the ditch, it states.
Springer reported the vehicle sped to him and stopped less than 1 foot from him, and the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and threatened to kill him, it states.
Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff is to preside over the cases.
