NCOESC lands safety grant

North Central Ohio Educational Service Center was awarded a $163,000 grant Friday for public safety services. The grant, awarded through Ohio's Local Government Safety Capital Grant Program, will help fund the Information Technology Safety Project. The project includes computer equipment and new fiber lines to enhance safety, according to an NCOESC release. Partners in the project include Tiffin and the villages of Attica, Bettsville, Bloomville, Green Springs, New Riegel and Republic. The grant will provide opportunities to work with officials from Seneca County, Tiffin, all Seneca County villages and Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp., North Central Ohio Regional Council of Governments Director John Davoli stated in the release. He said the next step will be to set a timeline for work to begin the initial phase of the project. The Local Government Safety Capital Grant Program had more than 400 applicants in its second round and 10 percent received funding.
