A Tiffin woman was hurt when her van was struck from behind by a car on SR 18 in Hopewell Township Monday evening.

A spokesman from the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Megan L. Brickman, 38, was taken to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening, he said.

The spokesman said Brickman was driving a 2006 Nissan Quest, and Aaron J. Schaade, 29, of Tiffin, was driving a 2012 Chrysler 200. Both vehicles were eastbound on SR 18, and Schaade’s car struck the van, which was braking to turn into Brickman’s driveway, in the rear, the spokesman said.

Schaade was not hurt and was cited with assured clear distance ahead, he said.

Brickman and Schaade were wearing seatbelts, he said.

Personnel from Bascom EMS, Bascom Joint Fire District and the county’s Echo unit responded to the crash, which occurred about 6:30 p.m.
