Rollover injures passenger

A semi-truck hauling plastic wrap rolled Sunday afternoon on SR 100, injuring a passenger who had been in the sleeper compartment.

Trooper Jacob Mellinger of State Highway Patrol said Walter Johns, 50, of Florida, had been northbound on SR 100 near TR 17 when a gust of wind took the semi’s trailer into gravel on the side of the roadway, causing Johns to lose control. The semi then rolled onto its side.

Mellinger said a passenger who was in the sleeper compartment, Brenda O’Hearn, 53, of Florida, suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

Mellinger said Johns was not transported to the hospital. He was cited with failure to control, Mellinger said.

A dispatcher from Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division were called to the accident, which was reported at 3:21 p.m.
