Tiffin PD investigates sexual assault report

Tiffin Police Department detectives are investigating a report of a sexual assault.

A woman at 18 S. Sandusky St. reported at 2:06 a.m. Sunday she had found her roommate in the middle of the second-floor hallway awake, but not alert, according to a Tiffin Police Department report.

Lt. Mark Marquis of Tiffin Police Department said the woman was found at her residence, a Tiffin University residence hall. She was taken to Mercy Tiffin Hospital, where she reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted at a residence on Hudson Street, he said.

Marquis said she was familiar with one of the residents and had joined a small party at the house. It was known the woman, who was treated and released from the hospital, had been drinking, he said.

Marquis said a search warrant was executed at the Hudson Street residence, and items were collected for analysis. Several people at the home were interviewed by detectives, he said.

Nine people were detained, according to the police report.

No arrests had been made Sunday night.

Detectives are awaiting toxicology results, Marquis said.
