United Way exceeds $500K goal

Tiffin-Seneca United Way’s 2013-2014 campaign reached 101 percent of its goal Thursday with the addition of donations from National Machinery LLC, National Machinery Foundation and Chairman and CEO Andrew H. Kalnow.

Both entities and Kalnow donated a total of $175,000, pushing the campaign’s donations to $507,258.76, more than the goal of $500,000. Last year, the campaign raised $493,050.88.

The donations are to commemorate National Machinery’s 140th year anniversary, an email from Kalnow said.

“It couldn’t have been better timing,” United Way Executive Director Pat DeMonte said. “We’re excited … knowing that we have enough money to impact the agencies and to put to good use. … The generosity shows what the company is all about and it shows great leadership in the community.”

Campaign Chair Eric Shook thanked National Machinery and all the company’s work with the campaign, along with its contributions to the community as a whole. He also thanked everyone who has helped make the campaign a reality.

“I’m ecstatic,” Shook said. “I knew Tiffin and the surrounding communities would come together to help the United Way.”

Kalnow was unavailable for comment Thursday.

The campaign ends Monday and allocations are to be made in early April.
