Brutal cold here for days

The area is to continue to be hit with cold temperatures this week.

National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory until 6 p.m. today. A wind chill warning is to be effect from 6 p.m. today until noon Tuesday, and a wind chill watch is to be in effect from noon Tuesday until noon Wednesday.

According to the weather service Sunday night, an arctic cold front was to move across the area overnight, bringing some of the coldest temperatures of the season. It predicted the wind chills would fall to 10 to 15 degrees below zero overnight and remain well below zero today.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. today.

The weather continued to wreak havoc on travel over the weekend.

According to a Tiffin Police Department report, a tractor trailer was stuck on the ice at West Market and South Sandusky streets Saturday evening.

According to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office report, a minor snowmobile accident was reported at 1011 N. TR 47 Saturday night. Bascom EMS and Bascom Joint Fire District personnel were summoned to the scene.

A semi was in the ditch at West SR 18 and West CR 26 Sunday morning. A man reported he slid off the road and hit a mile marker sign on North US 23 Sunday morning.

A State Highway Patrol spokesman said the patrol received reports of minor incidents involving vehicles sliding off the roadway Sunday. They were pulled out with tow trucks, and no one was injured, he said.

A Tiffin Fire Rescue Division ambulance was called out for heat/cold exposure early Sunday morning.

According to a Tiffin Police Department report, a man was running around in just a bathrobe at Franklin and Clay streets at 12:28 a.m. The report states a person ran north through an alley toward Franklin Street.

Jerry B. Brown, 19, of McComb, was charged with underage possession/consumption, according to the police department.

A person was released to Tiffin University security.
