Tiffin driver faces sixth OVI charge

A Tiffin man is facing his sixth offense for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he crashed his vehicle Sunday morning on CR 592.

According to a release from the State Highway Patrol, Dwayne G. Atkins, 47, was arrested after State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a one-vehicle accident just after 11 a.m. on CR 592 near CR 5.

Atkins had been operating a 1992 Ford Mustang westbound on CR 592 when he lost control, traveled off the north side of the roadway and struck a mailbox, according to the release.

He was taken from the scene to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital with minor injuries. He submitted a blood test and results are pending, the release states.

Atkins is scheduled to appear in Fostoria Municipal Court Thursday on charges of felony OVI, driving under an OVI suspension and failure to control.
