Red Cross offering babysitter training
The American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties is planning a babysitter training course 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 27 at the Hancock County office, 125 Fair St., Findlay.
For a limited time, the Red Cross is offering 20 percent off all Red Cross babysitting courses for youth ages 11 and older. Using coupon code INDY200913, individuals can register online.
The training teaches young people how to care for infants and children, handle emergencies such as injuries and accidents, recognize safety and hygiene issues and communicate with parents. It also provides materials to help them begin their babysitting career.
Cost is $85. Students receive materials that are useful during the course and when they start babysitting, including a compact emergency reference guide, an interactive CD-ROM featuring an activity booklet with games, songs, recipes and other activities, an electronic client organizer and other items.
Combining video and interactive activities, the Babysitting Basics online course helps students develop leadership skills and tools for reacting appropriately and efficiently in the event of an emergency. Participants will be provided with tools babysitters can use to build and manage their own babysitting business.
Students are to have access to download resources and materials used in the course as well as materials to start their own babysitting business. The cost of Babysitting Basics is $25.
